Our client Ozzy brought his beautiful Audi RS4 in, this time for a full service, inspection and installation of a carbon fibre front splitter.
This car has such an agressive stance with the adjustable air suspension anyway, now enhanced further with the new front splitter!
Today we had an Audi RS4 in for fitment of a Miltek cat back exhaust system.
You can see the fantastic performance gains from this naturally aspirated v8 below where we did a power run before and after.
Run 1 (stock): 438bhp & 314lbft
Run 2 (w/Miltek): 456bhp & 330lbft
This is the second Impreza hatchback we had in this week!
The car came to us with fueling issues and engine oil leaks after having engine work performed elsewhere.
We diagnosed the fuelling issue to be a weak fuel pump, which we replaced with a Roger Clark Motorsport uprated fuel pump.
We have some pictures below of the oil leaks, as you can see we had some fun diagnosing and fixing the problems!

For this Impreza WRX STI we carried out a FREE healthcheck, dyno power runs and 4 wheel alignment.

Mini Cooper S fitted with a Water Methanol injection kit by Devilsown. This system is designed to prevent detonation which can occur at high temperatures and pressures in the combustion chamber. Water has a high latent heat content which makes it very effective at preventing the onset of detonation. The water injection also reduces the production of NOx (oxides of nitrogen). The methanol additionally reduces the chances of detonation due to its 116 octane rating and a performance improvement is achieved. A 50/50 mixture is misted into the engine which takes into account the fact the water and methanol will both reduce heat in the combustion chamber meanwhile the added octane rating adds BHP. We were lucky enough to be given the opportunity to handle the conversion of an SMG equipped BMW M6 to a 6-speed manual gearbox.
Manual? You ask…Did BMW even make a manual M6? Apparantly it seems they did – 701 to be exact (323 Coupes + 378 Convertibles) – but for the USA only!
The one option missing from the UK models was a 6-speed manual instead of the SMG, after all we are probably the best market for it!
Our client asked us to research and look into the best ways to convert his car over to a manual transmission.
As soon as the car arrived we set about removing the existing SMG gearbox allowing us to see the access available for linkages, clutch lines etc.
Our client supplied the manual 6-speed ‘box which was imported from the USA for a US M6, complete with clutch and flywheel.
We sourced a pedal box from a 530d, and hooked up the clutch lines from the pedal box to the master and slave cylinders.
We removed the perforated holes provided by the factory (how nice of them) so we could run all the cables and lines under the car properly, just as the manual M6 would be.
We had to have a custom gearshift gaitor built as this doesn’t exist for RHD 6 series, as all 6 series cars in the UK were either auto or SMG.
The engine ECU has had to be programmed to know that it now has a manual gearbox attached, otherwise as far as it’s concerned there is no gearbox attached and will only run in ‘get-me-home’ mode.

Some of you may remember this R34 GTR, we had it in for a coolant leak, which unfortunately turned out to be a cracked block.
So a second hand N1 24u rb26 block was purchased.
We reused most of the Nitto 2.7 kit, the pistons were replaced, the crank had a very minor polish. When we came to reassemble the bottom end, we measured the crank to bearing gaps using plastigauge (can be seen in the pictures) and ring gaps were measured and adjusted If tolerances were to small. Now all the tolerances and gaps are perfect we proceeded to built the engine up using only the best components for reliability when this GTR is tearing up the track!
Once the engine was fitted, we run it in properly with religious engine oil changes, with the correct oil.
Now for mapping. And who better than Romain at Syvecs. He did a brilliant job with this car maximising engine performance and reliability. The car made just under 600 bhp after the engine was mapped, due to the turbos underperforming, so this is to be continued! With new turbos, this car will make 600bhp+!

We are currently working on this beautiful Ferrari F355, this is the car that preceded the incredibly popular Ferrari 360. The F355 has a 3.5l v8 engine with 5 valves per cylinder, hence it’s name 355.
Our client brought this F355 in to us for a full check over as it wasn’t running correctly and there was a noticeable coolant leak.
We gave the car a full check over and found not only a coolant leak but a number of oil leaks, radiator leak, power steering leak and some minor faults including bushes that needed replacing.
We began to repair the oil leaks, we had to remove the cam covers and while we were there we decided to check the cam timing – this unfortunately ended up being out. We then informed our client of this, as we weren’t happy with the way the engine was running, the cam timing being out could be the news we didn’t want.
In order to inspect further and fix the cam timing we need to remove the engine from the car.
We ‘dropped’ the engine out of the car and re-aligned the camshafts to then be able to perform a leak-down test and check the compression.
We noticed various cylinders had high leak back through the exhaust valves, which means loss of compression in these cylinders and reduction in power and performance.
We have informed our client up to this point and next up is to remove the cylinder heads for further investigation.

We have removed the cylinder heads and found the exhaust valves to be hitting the pistons, this wasn’t bad enough to bend the valves but bad enough to cause unwanted noise and reduced power and performance. This is the result of the valve timing being out which is what we will fix.
We noticed there was substantial play in both the inlet and exhaust valves, this is due to worn valve guides which will need replacing.
All the inlet and exhaust valves were re-cut and re-seated in the head with new guides.
The engine is now all back together, the cylinder head went back on complete with new gasket and new cambelt kit. We have now received the fuel injectors back from detailed testing and cleaning and have gone back in.
The engine has now been tested and been fitted back into the car. Running smoothly with no unwanted noise. Next we will test further on our dyno and map the engine if needed for optimum fueling and ignition timing.
We tested the F355 on our dyno and the engine successfully produced 360bhp with it pulling cleanly to the red line.

Car all cleaned and ready to go back to her owner
We get to remap a lot of modern diesel engines and enjoy seeing the owner enjoy their vehicle’s new found personality. Tthis BMW is no exception, the 530d is what we would call a performance diesel car anyway, but with the ability to increase power and torque the car can become a real sports saloon.
This 530d started with 246.9bhp & 386lb/ft. After our ecu remap was carried out the engine now produces 330.3bhp & 430.7lb/ft.
Incredibly the torque delivery is extended across the rev range as seen in the graph below, it would normally drop off after 3000rpm but now pulls to 4000rpm.
We remapped this little Ginetta, you can see in the graph below the original bhp and torque coloured blue.
The Ginetta is now back as it should be ultra responsive!
On this Audi A5 TDI we carried out a DPF (Diesel Particulate Filter) delete, with software delete.
The reason for removing the DPF is to gain additional power, fuel efficiency and to prevent the large repair bill of replacing the DPF.
On this BMW M6 we have uprated the cooling system using some great looking and high efficiency radiators, and filled the system with Evans waterless coolant which helps to maximise cooling and performance of the radiators.
This 1989 Porsche Carrera Coupe Club Sport has only covered a genuine total of 3000miles!
A truely impressive and rare car, only 340 of these (CS option M637) were ever produced.
We carried out an inspection and healthcheck including a run up on our dyno.
Impressively she produced 221.1bhp and 195.4lbft torque. Back in 1989 this engine came out of the factory with 231bhp, so overal marginal loss over the years just goes to show how well looked after this example is.
This Audi S3 is Stage 2 and made 397bhp on our dyno. Very powerful little machine with 310bhp going to the wheels and 358lbft of torque.
This Skyline R33 GTST had a lot of work performed by us 4 years ago including: forged internals, upgrade roller bearing turbo and transmission conversion (from automatic to manual)
The car is still in great condition and with a run up on our dyno, still making healthy power all these years later.
This lovely piece of V8 muscle was recovered into us as it had eaten it’s clutch alive!
We upgraded the clutch to an LS7 clutch, we also replaced corroded fuel lines, repaired corroded power steering fluid lines and some other items.
Neil’s Impreza WRX STI has undergone major performance upgrade work. He now has a very impressive spec STI.
The modifications include a precision RCM turbo charger kit, RCM equal length exhaust manifold, RCM 8500cc injector kit, RCM up pipe, RCM oil catch can, Hayward & Scott decat down pipe, uprated fuel pump and an ECU tune on our dyno making 405bhp and 334lbft torque!
Our client Neil could not believe the difference these upgrades have made to his car, we hope he enjoys it for years to come!
