ECU Remapping
ECU Remapping by Perfect Touch
ECU Remapping dynamometers were originally designed for the exclusive use of dynamometer operators.
ECU quite simply stands for “Engine Control Unit”, an electronic device, very similar to a tiny computer, found in a car
The purpose of an ECU is to control certain elements of how your car functions, for example; your engine, and including areas such as fuel injection, ignition timing, idle speed and variable valve timing. When a car is produced, the manufacturer is obliged to ensure that the vehicle is suitable for everyone, as soon as it, figuratively speaking , leaves the forecourt. What this means is that the ECU is pre-programmed to be able to handle a wide range of situations, such poor air quality (as in dusty atmospheres). The main reason for this is so that the car is prepared, so to speak, for whatever elements it may endure, without breaking down on its owner within a week! In Britain, however, these things are just not necessary, because we are lucky enough to have relatively dust-free air. Therefore, when we remap your ECU, we are fine tuning it, to ensure that your vehicle has excellent engine performance and efficiency, for your personal needs.
Every modern car comes with an ECU; however, having a programmable ECU gives the driver complete control over the car and the engine, as the units require reprogramming in order to set the way in which they behave, giving the owner freedom to tell their car to do exactly what they want it to do (within reason, of course). In order to remap or tune an ECU, we use specialist tools that allow us to connect to the ECU chip in your car, using an emulation device. Even if you have had your ECU remapped before, we can still remap it for you, and we are confident that our results will be greater than your previous remapping. Moreover, if we do not give you better results in both your cars power and torque, then we happily offer a strict “No result No Fee” policy Remapping can potentially give you full control over how much fuel is injected into each of your cars cylinders. It can also allow you to correct the water temperature in the engine, should it get either too hot or too cold, this would be done by injecting extra fuel. Remapping allows control over the timing of the spark plug, and can even determine how many RPM (Revolutions per Minute) your car’s engine can reach, but the ignition will cut out. Remapping your ECU will increase both your cars torque and its Bhp (brake horsepower). Another result of having your ECU remapped, is that if you are a “sensible” driver, then you could notice that you’re fuel consumption will going down, meaning that every time you fill up your engine, you have complete confidence that your fuel is going to last you longer. However, if you like driving fast, you will probably notice the fuel consumption going down as it normally would.
Many people complain about cars being too much like computers, because modern cars are full of so much technology. However, the best thing about having a car with modern technology is the fact that if you do decide to have your ECU remapped, then it is entirely possible to have it reversed should you not be 100% satisfied with it.
Further more Dastek's Dynamometer uses sophisticated digital processors, which provide exceptional speed control, thus negating the need for heavy electrical damping, of the load cell output.
