This 997 Porsche 911 C2S came to us as it had a number of different noises coming from the engine bay, plus there was smoke coming from the exhaust.
We could see straight away the engine was burning oil, the smoke from the exhaust was the giveaway.
We know there is a common issue with nickel cylinder liners on the 3.8 litre engine as we have rebuilt so many of these engines now. But we perform a full diagnostic to be sure of the root-cause.
We used a bore scope to inspect the cylinder liners and pistons. We found 2 cyclinders on bank 2 which had pick-up, this is where the piston starts to wear away at the cylinder wall and this in turn causes oil to get into the combustion chamber (above the piston).
We stripped down the engine to confirm the fault.
The remedy for this fault is to rebuild the engine with steel liners taking the place of the original cylinder walls.

Here is a lovely example of a 2004 Porsche Cayenne. Our customer loves to keep his Porsche in ‘tip-top’ condition. New pads and discs this time around were a ‘must’.
Today one of our customer’s brought in his Porsche Cayman S for routine servicing.
Customer was complaining of a rattle coming from the engine, after taking a look we diagnosed faulty water pump bearing, so we replaced the water pump….Problem solved!

The Porsche 356 was Porsche’s first production car!
We had the pleasure of being asked to work on this beautiful Porsche worth in excess of £100,000.
We have a lot of experience working on Porsche’s and we felt at home working on it.
The customer brought it into us as the engine wasn’t running correctly, in fact it wouldn’t start.
After a bit of tuning was carried out this little Porsche was purring and running perfectly!
The owner of this Porsche 911 came to see us after a recommendation. The previous garage had stripped down the engine and were unable to take on the task required.
As the engine was already stripped down we were able to immediately inspect the cylinder walls and determine the issue. The cylinder walls on the naturally aspirated Porsche engines are Nickel Sealed Aluminium and are known to suffer from cylinder pick-up. This is where as the piston is moving up and down inside the cylinder it makes enough contact to gradually strip away this Nickel Seal, leading to loss of compression.
After we spoke to the customer it was decided that to replace the cylinder block it would be worthwhile in fitting the existing cylinder block with brand new Steel Liners. This would ensure that in the future this enginer would never suffer the same issue.

One of our customers came in with his Porsche 944 Turbo for us to diagnose water loss from the engine.
We soon found this was due to a blown head gasket……..which led onto this monster build!

This 965 Turbo was booked in for a major service with us and once we started working on the car we soon discovered that the engine was leaking compression on one of the cylinders, which we then diagnosed the problem to be a broken cylinder head stud. So to resolve this problem the engine would need to be removed.
From this point our customer was happy for us to go-ahead and fix his beloved Porsche!

One of our customer’s an ex touring car driver who has also competed in the Caterham cup, decided after years off from racing to enter his Porsche Boxster into the BRSCC for 2013.
We aked us if we would like to be one of the sponsers for the project. We agreed to take on the engine rebuild.
We removed the engine and fully overhalled, lightening and balanced all rotating parts to ensure reliabilty during the races ahead.
As part of the works carried out we were able to achieve an additional 15bhp.

Customer came into us for a re-map which led on to a massive project…..something to get excited about!
What we did:
- Full engine build, with forged conrods and pistons, balanced and lightened crankshaft, cylinder heads overhalled.
- Turbos reworked and uprated for higher flow
- Custom made uprated intercoolers and induction system
- Uprated custom fuel system including fuel pumps and injectors
- Full custom uprated exhaust system in stainless steel
- Brake system uprated to ‘VERY BIG’ Brembo setup (front and back)
- Re-mapped engine ECU on our 4wd Dastek dyno
This all adds up to a 2003 Porsche Cayenne Turbo with 600+bhp using very little effort and a moderate turbo boost pressure of 1.2bar
