Subaru Impreza, WRX & STI Servicing & Repair

The Subaru Impreza went from the showroom straight onto the World Rally stage, and few cars reward proper, knowledgeable care quite like it. Whether you run a classic turbo Impreza, a WRX or a full-fat WRX STI, our experienced team treats your Subaru with the respect this icon deserves.

From routine servicing to major engine overhauls, we look after the boxer-engined Impreza family the way it should be done, using OE or OE-equivalent parts and following Subaru service schedules to the letter, so your warranty stays intact.

Subaru Impreza engines and the work we know inside out

The Impreza, WRX and STI reward owners who understand the boxer engine and look after it properly. Here is some of what we see day to day, and how we keep these cars healthy and reliable.

EJ boxer engines – ringlands, head gaskets & bearings

The EJ20 and EJ25 flat-four is the heart of the Impreza, and it has a few well-known weak points. The naturally aspirated EJ25 is prone to head gasket failure as it ages, usually showing up as a slow oil or coolant seep around the 100,000-mile mark. On the turbocharged EJ257 STI, cracked ringlands are the classic failure, and big-end bearing wear from oil starvation is a real risk on hard-driven and track cars. We diagnose these honestly, carry out head gasket replacement with a proper cooling overhaul, and rebuild tired engines with the right parts so they last.

Forced induction & engine builds

A strong, healthy bottom end is the foundation of any Impreza, and our forced-induction work is purely mechanical. We carry out full engine rebuilds with forged pistons and uprated bearings to make the boxer more durable, replace worn or failed turbochargers, and renew intercoolers, hoses, gaskets and supporting hardware. Whether you want a stock rebuild or a stronger mechanical package for fast-road or track use, the focus is reliability and correct assembly.

Transmission & driveline

The four-wheel-drive system is central to how an Impreza drives, and the STI 6-speed gearbox, DCCD centre differential and front and rear diffs all need specialist attention. We diagnose driveline noises, binding and locking faults, replace worn clutches and renew gearbox and differential components. Keeping the diffs and transmission healthy is what keeps that famous Subaru traction working as Subaru intended.

Suspension & geometry

An Impreza lives and dies by its suspension and geometry. Worn dampers, top mounts, arms and bushes blunt the handling these cars are famous for, and lowered or track-prepared cars need their alignment set up correctly. We replace worn suspension components, fit uprated dampers and springs where wanted, and carry out full 4-wheel alignment and corner-weighting so the car turns in and puts its power down cleanly.
