Volvo Servicing, Diagnostics & Repair in Hertfordshire

Volvo build some of the safest, most dependable cars on the road, with a quietly clever Swedish character all of their own. Our job is to keep yours that way, with every facility you would expect from a main dealer and more, typically for around half dealer prices and without affecting your warranty.

From the compact XC40 and V40 to the flagship XC90 and S90, petrol, diesel, plug-in hybrid and the fully electric C40 and EX range, our experienced team treats your Volvo with the care it deserves, using OE or OE-equivalent parts and following Volvo service schedules to the letter.

Servicing, diagnostics and repair for your Volvo

We look after the full Volvo range with servicing & repair, auto electrical diagnostics, 4-wheel alignment, rolling road and TerraClean. We follow manufacturer schedules and use OE or OE-equivalent parts, so your warranty stays intact and your Volvo keeps performing as it should.

We service all Volvo models:

XC40, XC60 & XC90

V40, V60 & V90

S60 & S90 saloons

Petrol, diesel & plug-in hybrid

C40 & EX fully electric range

Volvo has come a long way from its 1927 roots, and today’s cars blend genuine luxury with serious engineering. Whether you drive a frugal diesel estate, a punchy petrol turbo or one of the latest electrified models, we have the equipment, the data and the hands-on experience to keep it safe, smooth and running exactly as Volvo intended.

Every car gets a thorough, honest health check. We tell you what needs doing now, what can wait and what to keep an eye on, so there are no surprises and no unnecessary work.

Volvo engines and the work we know inside out

Volvos are well engineered, and they reward proper, knowledgeable care. Here is some of what we see day to day across the range, and how we keep these engines and gearboxes healthy.

Drive-E (VEA) 2.0 petrol and diesel engines

Volvo’s modular Drive-E engines power most modern models, from the XC40 and V60 to the XC90, in petrol, diesel and plug-in hybrid form. On the earlier 2014 to 2016 cars we keep a close eye on the timing chain tensioner, where a cold-start rattle should never be ignored, and we carry out chain and tensioner replacement before any damage is done. We also tackle intake carbon build-up on the direct-injection petrols, cooling-system leaks from ageing plastics and seals, and oil consumption, all kept in check with correct-spec oil services on a sensible interval.

Older five-cylinder petrol engines (PCV and cam belts)

The much-loved five-cylinder petrol turbos in the older S60, V60, V70 and XC models are strong engines when looked after. The two big jobs are the crankcase breather system and the cam belt. Volvo uses an oil separator and hose arrangement rather than a simple PCV valve, and when it blocks it raises crankcase pressure and pushes oil past seals, so we service it properly. The cam belt is an interference design, so we replace the belt, tensioner and rollers on schedule, generally every 105,000 miles or ten years, to protect the valves. We also look after the turbo plumbing and the cooling-system plastics that harden with age.

Diesel models (DPF and EGR servicing)

The five-cylinder D5 and the later D3, D4 and twin-turbo diesels are economical and refined, but the emissions hardware needs care, especially on cars used for lots of short trips. We diagnose and clean or replace clogged EGR valves, a well-known issue on the D4 and D5, keep the DPF healthy and carry out forced regeneration where soot levels are high, and look after AdBlue dosing on the newer engines. We also handle injector faults, intake and boost leaks, and the swirl and breather components, so the engine pulls cleanly and passes its MOT emissions test.

Aisin gearbox and electrical systems

Many automatic Volvos use the Aisin TF-80SC six-speed gearbox. Fresh fluid is the single best thing for it: as the valve body bores wear, owners notice a flare in revs or a clunk on the change, so we carry out a proper fluid and filter service to keep shifts crisp, and watch for heat, the number one enemy of this gearbox on heavier SUVs. On the electrical side we run dealer-level diagnostics for everything from sensor and module faults to battery registration, City Safety and driver-assistance systems, coding and software, plus the usual oil-leak diagnosis and repair across the range.

Volvo servicing FAQs

Under Block Exemption rules, an independent specialist can service your Volvo without affecting its manufacturer or used-car warranty, provided the correct schedule is followed and OE-quality parts are used, which is exactly what we do.
Yes. We run professional diagnostic equipment for Volvo fault-finding, service resets, battery registration and module coding, the same jobs you would expect from a main dealer.
Most customers pay around half of main-dealer prices for equivalent work, using OE or OE-equivalent parts and genuine Volvo service schedules.
Yes, from the D3, D4 and D5 diesels to plug-in hybrids and the fully electric C40 and EX range. We provide DPF and EGR servicing on diesels and HV-safe diagnostics on electrified Volvos, alongside the full petrol range.
